Ruthe loved to entertain and travel. During her earlier years while raising her children, Sundays were family day when she would cook a roast, chicken, turkey, etc with all the trimmings – and there was always extra for anyone who dropped by. The door was always open for family and friends. Holidays were very special to her – especially Christmas. She and her brother Con would have a contest every year over how many lights were on the tree. One year, I believe they had each put close to 1,200 lights on their trees. Christmas was a special time for her kids and grandkids too. Presents covered the living room floor and each one was wrapped with ribbons or little toys. In the early years, as the children were growing, Bud, Ruthe and the kids spent summer vacations camping at Ipperwash Beach, or a Saturday night at the drive-in theatre where the kids would play on the swings until the movies started, then eating homemade popcorn and a gallon of Freshie or Kool-Aid. As life moved by, Ruthe and Jack loved to travel – going from coast to coast on Chamber of Commerce business. Everywhere Jack travelled, Ruthe was by his side. Every winter from the mid-70s, they would take a two- or three-week vacation to Florida and eventually at retirement, they spent the winters in Florida. All friends and family knew that every morning at 11, it was ‘Caesar time’ at the Mann residence. Ruthe lived a fulfilled and happy life in her 90+ years and left behind her a legacy that will continue to grow through the coming years. A celebration of Ruthe’s life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, 1:00 pm at Brando's Beach House, 135 Market Street, Brantford, Ontario.
