Obituary for Peter Prankie

PRANKIE, Peter Leonard -Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9th at the age of 92. Leonard was able to see his children Mark (Michelle), AnaMarie and Scott (Marianne) and Grandchildren Steven, William and Zachary for one last time. He knew each and everyone of us and gave smiles and called out our names. We are grateful he was not alone when he passed, with his son Scott by his side. Len was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, sisters Ann and Nellie and brother John. He is survived by his nieces Donna, Anita” Chicken”(George), nephews Jerry and Edward and several great nieces and nephews.
Born in Estevan, Saskatchewan to Lithuanian parents Peter and Mary, they endured hardship, devastation and war. They eventually moved to Hamilton, Ontario where Dad took on several jobs (dry cleaning, restaurant, bakery) to help support the family. At the age of 19, Dad earned his pilots license and was taught by a 2nd world war veteran named Colin Campbell and flew a Tripacer 3-seater plane and back then did “breakfast runs”. Eventually, he began working in a garage and went to trade school for welding and motor mechanics. This was his trade for most of his life and had a passion for fixing vehicles where friends and neighbours would come to our home in Caledonia for servicing. Dad also welded together some of the most amazing BBQ’s for pig roasts and wood burning stoves. A love of sports, Nascar and hockey – his team the Boston Bruins till the end.
