SCHAUS: Krista Denise- It is with both serenity and sadness that we announce the
passing of Krista Denise Schaus. Krista passed away peacefully at home on
Wednesday, October 6, 2021, after seeing her children and parents, with her loving
husband, Scott Walker and her loyal companion, Buddy by her side. Krista was
Scott’s loving wife and best friend, a devoted mother to Kristina Hoppe-Schaus
(Alena) and Zanden Koning, an amazing daughter of Ken and Deanna Schaus, sister
to Steven (Nancy) Schaus, aunt to Andrew and Samantha, and honorary
grandmother to Aria. Krista will be missed by all especially her in-laws, John and
Lorna Walker, and the Walker clan. Krista was loved by her aunts, Denise Arsenault
and Cyndy Cudek, Terry Kyle (Larry) and Lynn Schaus (late Alan Schaus) and her
uncles, Allan Arsenault (Maureen) Glen Arsenault, Blaine Arsenault and Harold
Schaus (Phil). Krista will also be missed by her many cousins. Krista touched the
life of everyone she met. She was an inspiration to many in her various roles
throughout her short life. These include as a police officer (Kingston and Norfolk
Detachments), a professor at Niagara College, a personal trainer, power lifter, body
builder and a lead coach with Precision Nutrition. While with the OPP, Krista
worked as a patrol officer, Crime Stoppers Co-ordinator and Community Services
and Media Relations Officer. Krista was often selected as a motivational speaker
especially for young women. Her love of life, dynamic personality, gift of the gab
and winning smile made her perfect for the job. Though her life was too short, Krista
lived by example and gave us abundant memories and lessons. She taught us how to
live, love, play and how to die with dignity. She lived with joy, wisdom, courage,
authenticity and strived every day to channel her “highest and best” self. The cancer
took her swiftly, only 12 days after being diagnosed. We are grateful that Krista is
no longer in pain. Her spiritual presence will continue to surround us all. Krista asked
that every time we see a butterfly, dragonfly or a hummingbird to remember her with
love. Krista, we are still “pulling” for you. Honouring Krista’s wishes, cremation
has taken place. There will be a private family celebration of her amazing life at a
later date. For those wishing to honour Krista’s memory, memorial donations can
be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre - Hamilton Health Sciences, 699
Concession St, Hamilton, Ontario, L8V 5C2. A special thanks to Krista’s terrific
medical team, Dr. Ferguson, Dr Erikson, Dr. Phillips and the Juravinski Palliative
Care Unit. SERENITY BURIAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 361 Main
Street, Port Dover (226) 290-9093 have been entrusted with the arrangements. Online
