DARBY: Jason It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Jason Darby announce his passing at the tender age of 32. Jason went peacefully due to complications of pneumonia at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with his family at his side on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Jason was adored by his father John, mother Patricia and Jim, sister Sara and Evan, Uncle John and Aunt Angie, Aunt Fran, Aunt Sheila and Uncle Marc, Uncle Michael and Aunt Nancy, Uncle Mark and Aunt Tracy, cousins Nolan, Becky, Meredith, Melissa, Meagan, Sarah, Jesse, Brent, Kyle, Sam and Sandy, as well as Ben, Emily, Lesley and Dan and his family in the UK. Jason’s passion for snowboarding, skateboarding, wake boarding, and all things Manchester United were only surpassed by his love of music. Jason played tenor saxophone and guitar. He acquired a vast eclectic vinyl collection that included everything from jazz, rock, blues, hard rock, metal, punk and most importantly, every Beatles album he could find. Jason was very proud of his British heritage and embraced it every chance he got! In 2007 Jason was tragically injured while snowboarding at Sunshine Valley in Banff, Alberta. This injury was life altering, and Jason was hospitalized for 22 months before finding a home with care from the March of Dimes, on Emerald Street North in Hamilton. The family cannot fully express our gratitude and admiration for each and every “Angel of Mercy” on staff with this noblest of organizations, who helped Jason to live his life to the fullest every day. Many thanks also to the outstanding nurses, therapists, and doctors of Hamilton Health Sciences all across the city who have cared for Jason over the years. We cannot thank the ICU staff at St. Joseph’s enough for their care during Jason’s most recent stay; they ensured that he “stayed safe” from Covid, and especially that he passed safely and without pain. Extra special thanks to ICU nurse Becky for taking special care of John, Trish and Sara on Jason’s last day! Jason’s favourite place in Hamilton was Rebel’s Rock, owned and run by Kate & Troy who loved Jason as dearly as family. Jason made many great memories at this delightful Irish pub! He also made many wonderful friends there, enjoyed far too much Guinness, took pleasure in Kate’s great food, and listened to lots of great musicians performing live on stage. A celebration of Jason’s Life will be held at Rebel’s Rock, 537 King St E, Hamilton, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm.(Rain Date Tuesday July 28, 2020 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.) SERENITY BURIAL & CREMATION SERVICES 361 Main Street, Port Dover (226) 290-9093 have been entrusted with the arrangements.
