Obituary for Graham (Tom) Kai

Kai: Thomas Graham- Passed away Monday January 17, 2022 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe after his fight with cancer he was in 74th year. Tom lived his life to the fullest supported by his career as Ironworker. Tom was truly one of the best at hanging the iron and many of men looked up to him, literally. He led his brothers in the trade and set a standard that raised the bar. His name is legendary in the industry, and he will be talked about within the halls and tavern walls for years to come. His grandiose lifestyle was only surpassed by his fun tales of yesteryear, which sometimes had a hint of reality in there. Tom’s memberships were Saskatchewan#771 and Hamilton #736, but you could find a story of his feats no matter where you went. Tom’s love of his life was his Wife Mimi Moorman Kai the two were never apart and a better match could not have been made. Their support for one another is something to envy and they were always no more than an arm’s length away. Tom leaves behind in the area his daughter Joanne Burcham (Mark Belbeck) and two grandchildren Jake and Jackie. Joanne provided care for Tom and Mimi in the later stages of his life, and both cherished the time they had together. Tom especially felt the love of her care and voiced time and time again. Tom’s friends are too many to mention but they all knew if they were one from his generosity and never-ending supply of laughter. Special friends who helped more than can be spoken of were Ed and Terry Roesel who will continue to support Mimi. Tom leaves behind his son Jeff Kai from Vancouver Island and his daughter Anita Kai from Saskatchewan. As well as Mimi’s children in the US. Grandchildren and great grandchildren from both sides of the border. All of Tom’s parents, brothers and sisters both past and present. Special recognition to the staff at Norfolk General for hard work and compassion in these extraordinary times. Cremation has taken place. SERENITY BURIAL & CREMATION SERVIES INC. 361 Main Street, Port Dover (226) 290-9093 have been entrusted with the arrangements. A Celebration of Tom’s life will take place on Friday, May 27, 2022.
