LAUZON- Emma- It is with unbearable sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Emma Lauzon on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Emma was born to parents, Tammy Bennett and Wayne Wallace, 6 weeks premature. Emma will always be remembered for her soft spoken voice that belied her incomparable determination and wicked sense of humour. Emma was an intelligent, fiercely independent individual, who learned to live life on her terms. Emma adored the colours pink and purple, KFC, cats, and regularly trouncing other Mario Kart players either in person or on-line. Emma loved spending time with her maternal grandmother, Bernice, especially at the family cottage, north of Toronto. Emma enjoyed long bike rides, Nerf gun battles, tubing with her cousins on the lake, and sitting around the campfire eating smores. While recently at the cottage, Emma was often found, sitting on top of the picnic table, strumming her favourite guitar, embracing the calm and beauty of the lake in front of her. Emma was an artist in multiple modalities, and it was a rare day that Emma didn’t play, write, and compose music. Emma had also developed her own calligraphy font and was known to leave evidence of it wherever she went. Emma would refer to her other forms of artistic expression as “doodles” although they were exquisite pieces of art, most often created in pen and ink. An outdoor mural showcasing Emma’s art can be seen on Cannon street in Hamilton, Ontario. Emma will always be cherished and missed by her beloved grandmother, Bernice Lauzon. Bernice has been much more than a grandmother to Emma; and whose support has been unconditional and her love for Emma immeasurable. Emma also had a special relationship and deep connection with her Aunt Shirley and Uncle Bill (deceased) and the family takes some solace in the knowledge that both Emma and Bill are now both together. Emma will also be mourned by her Aunt Pauline (Uncle Jimmy), Aunt Janette (Uncle Dennis), Uncle Ed (Idania), Uncle Fred (Aunt Mari), Aunt Edie (Ed), Aunt Susie (Uncle Armando), along with their children, Abbey and Selwyn, among many other cousins and friends. Emma is fondly remembered by many staff at the Good Shepherd-Notre Dame House in Hamilton. Her humour, intelligence, kindness, and artistic talent will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to care for and learn from her. Emma’s grandmother, Bernice, would specifically like to recognize Will, who initially met Emma in his previous role with The Good Shepherd, along with Danielle from the Ron Joyce Centre. Both Will and Danielle were committed in their ongoing support for Emma and especially when she was in the greatest need. Cremation has taken place.
