Obituary for Christopher Jenkins

JENKINS: Christopher Joseph Charles- Christopher passed unexpectedly on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Simcoe Ontario at the age of 64 (or as he always said 29 with 35 years experience). Predeceased by his parents Alfred Hunter and Beverley Jenkins (Halloway). Also survived by his daughters Catherine and Kristy and their mother Merle MacDonald. He will me missed by his grandchildren Elizabeth, Alexus, Kyra, great grandchild Kairi, He will be deeply missed buy his godson: Christopher ( Danielle) Taillon and their children Malcolm and Christian. He is survived by his siblings Elizabeth Clerk, Suzan, Jeffery (Linda Hartin), Edward, Terry-Lynn Fullager, his sister-in law Betty Jenkins, Elaine Jenkins, also survived by 7 nieces, 8 nephews, 8 great nieces, 11 great nephews. Predeceased by his brother Terry Boyko, Michael Jenkins, Frank McGregor, Jesse Jenkins his nephew Michael Jr. and Mathew Boudreau and brother-in-law Danny Fullager. To many he was known as, son, uncle, brother, he was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather, godfather, he had been a husband and a friend to many. He also held many other titles too like role model, father figure, superhero, and idol. Of course, never late for dinner. He ran away and joined the carnival at 15 where he became a barker where he met his wife and mother of his children. They were married on the Ferris wheel in Red River in 1977, she was,18 and he was19. Making national television news and newspapers. He was there when needed, knew the importance of family, and always tried to do the right thing. His black belt was a big achievement to him, he relished in the fact he could still do the splits at 64. Chris worked for 31 years at the Toronto Star, he worked his way up to set-up press operator. He helped raise millions for the United way while working for the Star, where met many sports stars through the years, that contributed to his collection of autographs. He retired early, at the age of 54. He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia, art, playing the lotto max everywhere. He loved old buildings, and treasure hunting. He was always there to help, especially with the kids, being young at heart himself. With all his greatness he had some demons, he was very proud of over coming one of his biggest ones having 31 years of sobriety through NA. His laugh, his quick wit, his thirst for knowledge, and love of singing, He will be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Branch # 79 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 200 West Street, Simcoe from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. A service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
