Pine: Brian Michael- Serpent River Ojibwe: Brian passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 wrapped in arms that loved him after brave and courageous battle with a long illness. He was born in Blind River Ontario. Survived by his wife Karen. Daughters Christie, Kerry and Sam, sister Carol (Pete), nieces Misty and Amanda and Nephews Peter, Frank and Michael, sister- in- Law Amy and mother-in-Law Judith. Brian was a Sky-walker, a fisherman and the best pool shooter in the universe. He taught himself to make or fix or build anything with amazing skill and mastery. He was deeply in tune with nature and animals were drawn his pure heart. Brian loved his two dogs Mavis (Little Bear) and Olive (Lolly Pop) and he beamed with pride to be their dad. They are together again, and he is with all the people who have loved him and passed before him. Brian was a gentle soul and had a heart of gold and he was loved more than he will ever know. Brian is free now and can do everything he was not able do while tethered to earth. Brian made his own shoeshine box when he was 10 years old to help make money for his family by shining shoes in downtown Toronto. He shined Johnny Cash's cowboy boots outside of the Silver Dollar. Johnny gave him a 50-dollar bill and an autographed photo. He ran home excited to show his mother the $50 bill not knowing it was Johnny Cash until his mother saw the picture. While there is no proof, it is only obvious that Brian is the 'little shoeshine boy on the windy corner of the dirty street' that inspired "Get Rhythm'. When you hear this song, think of him. Tap your toe. And smile. Brian, you will be desperately missed and always loved. You are now where you can take care of us until we see you again. We will love you forever and ever.
